Iceland. This is where our travel story began.

Our first big camper journey took us to Iceland in 2024 in a rented all-wheel-drive camper. Black beaches, snow, waterfalls and northern lights awakened the dream of our own home on wheels.

Even the glowing “Exit to Iceland” felt like more than a signpost. It marked the beginning of a journey that permanently changed the way we see campers, freedom and adventure.

In a rented camper, we travelled through wintry expanses, past snow-covered mountains, waterfalls and Eyjafjallajökull. Black plains led to an abandoned aircraft wreck, ice lay like glass on the dark shore, and from a cave the view opened out once more across the endless land.

At night came one of those moments no plan can guarantee: green northern lights appeared between clouds and stars. The next morning brought snow, wind and the road again. That constant change made the journey so special.

Iceland showed us what all-wheel drive, rugged technology and a well-designed camper can make possible. After this journey, renting was no longer enough. In June 2024, we converted a Mercedes Vito ourselves and took it on our next tour through Carinthia and Tyrol. Those experiences later led to the VW T5.2 4Motion.
